The 104th New Jersey State Agricultural Convention & Trade Show was held Feb. 5-7 at the Harrah’s Resort & Waterfront Conference Center in Atlantic City. For the eighth year, the annual convention was co-located with the Vegetable Growers Association of New Jersey.
On Tuesday, Feb. 5, the VGANJ opening night cocktail hour featured its auction to raise money for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. The auction raised $8,537, up from last year’s $7,415. In keeping with tradition, the New Jersey Agricultural Society presented the Neil Robson Farmers Against Hunger Award, the Tony Russo Farmers Market Award and the Philip Alampi Industry Award at its luncheon on Wednesday, Feb. 6.
In addition to the awards presented, distinguished speakers included New Jersey State Senator Bob Andrzejczak and New Jersey State Assemblyman Eric Houghtaling, who discussed the importance of supporting agriculture in New Jersey.
