Nash Produce introduces tray packs to retail stores

Throughout its history, the Nashville, NC-based company has stayed successful by staying ahead of the latest food trends, technological advances and food safety initiatives.

Obviously, some big changes needed to be made once the coronavirus pandemic hit and Nash Produce has done an excellent job adjusting to the challenge.

“We have learned how to live in the world’s ‘new normal’ and around our facility, all team members are practicing social distancing, following proper health screening protocols and learning a lot about new technology outlets that more effectively connect us with customers,” said Rebecca Scott, grower accounting and marketing director for Nash Produce. “It is a huge privilege to be able to continue providing our customers with a safe, nutritious product in a time of such uncertainty.”

Business has been stable over the last few months as the company has been able to keep its customers flush with what’s needed.

Its growers have been readying sweet potatoes, which looks to be a strong crop, and demand is starting to return to normal levels.

“It is encouraging to see the foodservice sector improving week-to-week, while our retail partners have been real troopers with increased traffic since the pandemic began,” Scott said.

The pandemic hasn’t slowed any growth plans down. In fact, Nash Produce has just begun releasing its “newest” product into retail stores— tray packs.

“Keep an eye out for our Mr. Yam Tray Pack, available in three- and four-count packages,” Scott said. “We’re excited to see our Mr. Yam line expand and have already seen a positive response from consumers. The tray packs are convenient, value-added products that allow customers the ability to quickly select pre-washed, U.S. No. 1 sweet potatoes for a family or larger group.”

Being owned by farmers, for farmers, Scott noted Nash Produce’s commitment to customers is the not-so-secret to its success.

“Every member of our team works toward the common goal of making each and every customer our top priority,” she said. “Our experienced staff, dedicated group of growers, and large facility allow us to provide exceptional service to our customers while also providing sweet potatoes year-round. Even though our potatoes travel all over the world, every potato we pack comes from local family farms in neighboring counties. We are truly a unified family of growers and employees that work together to meet and exceed expectations from the sweet potato field to consumer’s dinner plates.”

Throughout 2020, the company has been working to enhance different stages of its production.

In March, Nash Produce launched a personalized transportation management system to improve logistic efficiency. The company has also expanded its machinery to include a new bagging system and introduced a new bulk loader and scale.
