Florida near freezing, beautiful weather out West

by David Robidoux | January 21, 2020

Tonight will bring some of the coldest temps to Florida so far this winter. Plant City in the central part of the state will see minimum temp of 33 and a high of only 56. These temps shouldn’t affect the strawberries from this region but could slow production a bit. Tomorrow the minimum temp will be 48. Thursday and Friday will be a touch warmer with mins in the 50s, but by Saturday they will be back into the 40s where they will stay through next Tuesday.weat

Immokalee will see a min temp tonight of 36. Tomorrow through Friday will see min temps in the 50s but will be back into the 40s by Saturday, where they will remain through next Tuesday. Arcadia will touch 32 tonight, and even Homestead, south of Miami, will get in on the fun with a min temp of 38° tonight.

The only major growing region that will not see min temps in the 30s tonight is Belle Glade, which should stay right around 40 -- or above.

Beautiful weather out West
Western growing areas in California and Arizona can expect perfect weather over the next 10 days. The desert regions will see max temps in the mid-70s and mins in the low 50s. Look for good quality and numbers out of Yuma and Coachella over the next 10 days.

Coastal regions of Oxnard and Santa Maria will see max temps in the mid- to upper 60s over the next 10 days with possible 70s this Thursday and Friday for both locations. Min temps will be in the upper 40s. Over next 10 days look for good supply and quality of strawberries, broccoli and celery.

Michoacán
Perfect weather for next 10 days. Max temps in the mid-70s and min temps in the upper 40s. Possibility of an isolated shower here or there but nothing major. Perfect berry weather.

Guanajuato
Occasional high clouds throughout the week with slight chances of rain but nothing above 20 percent at the moment. Max temps will be in the low 70s and min temps in the upper 40s. Perfect weather for winter veg coming from this region.

Culiacan
Maximum temps in Culiacan will cool throughout the week from a high yesterday of 90 to only 82 this Saturday. Min temps will remain in the mid-50s but drop possibly into the upper 40s by next Wednesday, Jan. 29. Look for partly cloudy skies this Thursday through Saturday.

Chile
Perfect summer weather up and down the country of Chile right now. Temperatures are mostly average with highs ranging from the upper 70s to low 90s depending upon the region. There doesn’t appear to be any rain in the forecast. Look for good quality and numbers out of Chile on summer fruit.
