The 2018 Spring Policy Summit of the Fresh Produce Association of the Americas will be held March 20-21. Again this year, the two-day event will take place at the luxurious Tubac Golf Resort & Spa in Tubac, AZ.

According to the FPAA, this event focuses on policies and regulation among government agencies in the U.S., Mexico and Canada. The summit brings in regulators from all areas of U.S. and Mexican governments for open dialogue and updates on a variety of industry topics, including the Unified Cargo Program and food safety.2017-3-2-SummitThe meeting rooms of the Tubac Golf Resort provide an interesting and comfort setting for the FPAA spring Policy Summit. “This kind of meeting brings together stakeholders with regulators in a setting that invites collaboration and constructive input,” said Lance Jungmeyer, president of FPAA. “Our mission is to educate and monitor about changes that could impact our industry, and to create partnerships that help guide the produce industry toward achieving lasting, long-term positive changes”

Two important sessions included in this year’s program involve the invited keynote speaker, Under Secretary Greg Ibach of the USDA Marketing & Regulatory Programs. He will speak about the latest initiatives from the USDA and how they will affect the imported produce industry.

The other session will bring U.S. Customs & Border Protection and Mexican Customs representatives to talk about trade, Unified Cargo Processing, the PITA program, processing efficiencies, and more to facilitate trade between the U.S. and Mexico.
