Hy-Vee heats up the Twin Cities

Whether rushing to and from work or dropping off the kids at soccer practice and dance class, consumers are pressed for time. With all that is going on, unfortunately, things, such as cooking, fall by the wayside.  hy-vee

Hy-Vee’s new store in Cottage Grove, MN, is geared toward easing consumers’ cooking burden with increased space dedicated to heat-and-serve meals, grab-and-go foods and fully cooked entrées. The added space was created with millennials in mind, according to Hy-Vee.

“We’re expanding grab-and-go even more,” Randy Edeker, chairman and chief executive officer for Hy-Vee, told Minnesota’s Star Tribune at the store’s opening in early August. “I just got a new lifestyle report on millennials and it’s how they’re shopping. We change with them.”

The Cottage Grove store is the seventh in the Twin Cities and second opened this year, with another due to open in November. According to the Star Tribune, Hy-Vee stores in the area are larger than a typical Cub Foods and feature amenities such as a cut-to-order produce station, a juice and smoothie island, and made-to-order grills and delis.
