DOROTHY KOBOSKI, who has worked for Yakima, WA-based FirstFruits Marketing of Washington for about two-and-a-half years as a sales assistant, is one of the first to go through the company’s recently implemented sales intern program. She will spend most of the year in transitional training to understand all aspects of growing, packing, warehousing and selling before graduating into actual sales responsibility.
The new sales intern program consists of a yearlong training, which will take candidates through various modules encompassing all aspects of sales and operations. Interns will spend two-week rotations on the packingline, orchard operations, in the warehouse, with shipping and receiving, and also transportation logistics. Once the first modules are mastered, and the intern receives approval, they will move on to more specifically sales-related modules such as category management, marketing, direct customer relationships and negotiations.
