Tad Thompson, a veteran produce industry journalist who most recently worked as business development manager at the Philadelphia Wholesale Produce Market, announced that he has formed a new consultancy, Globalview Consulting LLC.

"My time promoting the Philadelphia market was truly a pleasure," Mr. Thompson said in a Feb. 28 press release announcing the formation of his consulting firm. "It is without doubt the world's premiere distribution facility for fresh fruits and vegetables, so to represent such a magnificent, food-safe facility was truly an honor. As I leave, I'm very pleased to look forward to allying with the market within my new venture."

Describing the philosophy of his new firm, Mr. Thompson said, "The catch-phrase for Globalview is 'Building world food trade through its people, products and services.' After a career as a self-employed journalist and industry consultant for most of my 36 years in the produce industry, my basic entrepreneurial instincts were tantalized by the endless and very interesting array of people who came to see the Philadelphia Wholesale Produce Market."

"We appreciate Tad's total dedication in a wide spectrum of efforts bringing countless hundreds to tour the market," Sonny DiCrecchio, chief executive officer of the Philadelphia Wholesale Produce Market, said in the press release. "He did a tremendous job of creatively involving leaders from the highest levels of the nation, city and the USDA, as well as top industry, logistics and health leaders. Visiting customer prospects ranged from supermarket chain buyers to individual bodega owners located in Philadelphia's food deserts. Tad's previous international experience was helpful in hosting guests from throughout the world. We look forward to an ongoing relationship and wish him the best in his other endeavors."

Dan Kane, general manager of the market, will handle the market's marketing activities going forward.

Globalview's efforts are supported by Mr. Thompson's broad food industry experience working throughout the country and in dozens of countries located on five continents.

"I am very excited to begin planning with what is an extensive range of prospective clients," he added in the press release. "The business is underway, working with allied colleagues on cooperative projects. We're launching a simple version of our website,, that will, of course, be a work in progress."

Globalview's office will be located in the Philadelphia suburb of North Wales, PA.
