Watson Mulhern LLC, a leading Washington-based food and agriculture issues management and policy firm, announced that Randy Green joined as principal Jan. 1 and that Watson Mulhern will collaborate with Mr. Green’s former firm, McLeod, Watkinson & Miller, to enhance both firms’ capacities to serve clients.

Watson Mulhern, a life sciences communications firm specializing in managing issues and crisis communications related to food, R-Green-headshotRandy Greenagriculture and nutrition, was founded in 2006 by Lisa Watson and Jim Mulhern. With Mr. Mulhern’s departure to become chief operating officer of the National Milk Producers Federation, Watson Mulhern will be renamed Watson Green LLC, with Lisa Watson continuing as a principal of the firm along with Mr. Green, according to a Jan. 7 press release from the company.

Amy Philpott, former vice president of communications at United Fresh Produce Association, joined Watson Mulhern in 2009 and will continue at Watson Green LLC to lead the firm’s crisis management and recall communications services — a role in which she has helped numerous fresh produce companies manage regional and nationwide recalls.

Mr. Green, who has been senior government relations representative at McLeod, Watkinson & Miller since 1999, is a former chief of staff for the Senate Agriculture Committee and also served as deputy under secretary of agriculture among other jobs in a three-decade career in agricultural policy.
