IVAN MUNOZ took on the role of sales and food-safety manager at Cal Flavor, a sister company of Los Angeles-based Cal Pacific Growers, in August.
“We are growers, packers and shippers of California avocados and also handle Mexican and Chilean avocados,” Mr. Munoz said. “We also handle citrus specialty products like Buddha’s Hands and kumquats that are grown in our groves.”
In his new position at Cal Flavor, Mr. Munoz handles sales and oversees the Primus program in the company’s packingshed. “We are a small, family-owned company, so we all wear many hats,” he added.
Mr. Munoz has been in the produce industry for 11 years, first getting his start in 2001 at Borg Produce in the Los Angeles Market and working his way up from the accounting department to sales.
As a graduate of California State University-Los Angeles, with a degree in history, Mr. Munoz has always been very passionate about California ag history and the 35 years of such at Cal Flavor is something he takes great pride in, he said.
