Gourmet Trading, a North American distributor of fresh asparagus, blueberries and blackberries, announced the beginning of its Chile blueberry season.
As the company's Argentina blueberry season winds down, the start of the Chilean blueberry season ensures the continuation of high-quality berries for retail and foodservice operators. Gourmet Trading supplies berries to its customers on a year-round basis.
"We are looking forward to a strong Chilean blueberry season," Scott Hulsey, vice president of procurement, said in a Nov. 18 press release. "We have already started to receive blueberries from Chile and will continue to till the end of April."
"With peak Chilean blueberry volume during the holidays, there is a great opportunity for retailers to lift sales by promoting blueberries for holiday meals and desserts," Julia Inestroza, director of marketing, added in the press release. "We are looking forward to promoting our blueberries throughout the holiday season with social media sites such as Twitter and Pinterest. We plan to continue to promote Chilean blueberries after New Year's with our 11-ounce 'Green Giant Fresh' blueberries for return to school in January."
