What's a pummelo?!? Maggie G investigates

sunki

It looks like a small basketball, but don't dunk it. Native to Southeast Asia, the pummelo is the largest fruit in the citrus family. It's also one of the grandparents that all of today's better-known citrus fruits come from (the others being citron, Mandarin and papeda).

Oranges and grapefruit are naturally occurring hybrids between the pummelo and the Mandarin.

The pummelo may be bit intimidating, but don't let the size fool you — it actually an easy-opening softy that tastes like a less-bitter grapefruit, as our Maggie Giuffrida found out with the help of Sunkist's Joan Wickham.
