EPC hits the jackpot with casino night dinner dance

DSC 6836WOODLAND PARK, NJ — The Eastern Produce Council held the 53rd annual John J. McAleavey dinner dance — a night the event’s namesake used to call “the produce prom” — Saturday, April 6, at the Westmount Country Club, here.

Marianne Santo, senior category manager at Wakefern and EPC president, and Susan McAleavey Sarlund, EPC executive director, welcomed nearly 300 attendees during the extended cocktail hour and presented $5,000 checks to four different charities: Eva’s Village, LEAD New York, the New Jersey Agricultural Society and the Tomorrows Children's Fund.

While the venue remained the same, the night saw significant changes: in lieu of the evening's traditional sit-down dinner, this year's ballroom featured a new casino night format, including blackjack, craps and roulette tables. Rounding out the entertainment was a DJ, photo booth and an Elvis impersonator.
