WHIPPANY, NJ -- The Eastern Produce Council held its annual dinner dance April 13, here, at the Hanover Marriott. Approximately 350 people attended the gala, where two members of the produce industry were honored.
Arthur R. Brown Jr., who served as New Jersey's secretary of agriculture from 1982 to 2002, received the council's Lifetime Achievement Award, a first for the organization. Mr. Brown was introduced by the state's current secretary of agriculture, Douglas H. Fisher.
Joseph DeLorenzo, director of produce merchandising and operations at Alpha 1 Marketing in White Plains, NY, was inducted into the Eastern Produce Council's Hall of Fame.
