Produce for Better Health Foundation's new chair of the board

Produce for Better Health Foundation, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to increase Americans’ daily consumption of fruits and vegetables for better health, announced Patricia (Trish) Zecca will take over as chair of the board of directors. Zecca leads global nutrition for the Americas business of the Campbell Soup Co. She brings more than 20 years of experience in nutrition science, influencer engagement and consumer education to this role. Zecca and the Campbell Soup Co. have been a member of PBH for eight years.pbh

As a national organization promoting increased fruit and vegetable consumption in all forms — fresh, frozen, canned or packaged, dried and 100 percent juice — PBH is uniquely positioned to engage diverse stakeholders, consumer influencers and thought leaders in science-based, integrated marketing communication efforts to boost produce intake.

“There is no doubt that fruits and vegetables, in all forms, support healthy lifestyles. But most people still only eat about half the recommended daily servings for better health,” said Zecca. “I’m eager to help inspire new behaviors and, in collaboration with all PBH members, help people discover that eating more fruits and vegetables — whether fresh, frozen, canned, packaged, dried or 100 percent juice — is a delicious way to enjoy a happy, healthy and active lifestyle.”

Zecca received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nutrition science from the Pennsylvania State University, and in addition to her role at PBH and Campbell, is an active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and International Life Sciences Institute. She regularly engages in public and private forums across government, scientific, trade and health professional organizations to improve public health, providing thought leadership at the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ Nutrition Impact Summit and the American Heart Association’s Healthier Food Leadership Summit.

“Trish is perfectly suited to step in as chair of the PBH Board of Directors,” said Dennis Christou, vice president of marketing for Del Monte Fresh Produce N.A. Inc., a former PBH chair. “With her strong consumer marketing as well as health and wellness expertise, Trish will inject new strategies and unique ideas to help advance PBH’s mission.”
