IFCO names new president for North America

IFCO, a global leader in reusable plastic containers, has named Dan Walsh as president-North America. He succeeds Fred Heptinstall, who has been appointed senior vice president of global business development.

Heptinstall will be responsible for evaluating opportunities for geographic expansion of IFCO into undeveloped global markets, new product applications and services and acquisition opportunities. He will participate in IFCO's strategic global business development and will represent IFCO in relevant industry organizations.

Walsh comes to IFCO from within the Brambles family of companies. During his 15 years with the group, Walsh has held a variety of leadership positions in general management, strategy, sales and customer service throughout CHEP's global product divisions and regions, including the RPCs business in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

In his most recent role as vice president of sales and customer collaboration for CHEP USA, Walsh was responsible for all commercial activity in the United States and instituted a structured collaboration program that strengthened relationships with key strategic customers.

"I look forward to leading IFCO's customer- and growth-focused efforts in the United States and Canada," Walsh said in a press release. "It is a very exciting time for us at IFCO, and I'm delighted to be at the helm of such an innovative, customer-focused organization."

Heptinstall has been with IFCO since 2004 and has led the growth of IFCO's RPC business to become the recognized leader for fresh produce in North America. During his tenure, IFCO achieved a leading position in the RPC sector and converted a number of major North American retailers to the use of RPCs.

"I am extremely pleased to announce these two new appointments," Wolfgang Orgeldinger, chief executive officer of IFCO Systems, added in the press release. "IFCO will be sure to continue its success under the proven leadership provided by Dan and Fred."
