Are your bags packed and ready to go?

As football season begins and the kids head back to school, members of the floral industry will hit the road to visit a multitude of conventions, trade shows and conferences around the world. Do you think when John Denver wrote the song “Leaving on a Jet Plane” in 1966, he might have been referring to flying to all of the floral industry events that seem to fill September and October?

COVER-SHOT In this edition, Molly Mullins previews the WF&FSA Floral Distribution Conference; Lisa McVey shares insight on PMA’s Fresh Summit; we give you the heads-up concerning Agriflor, Expo Flor Ecuador, Portland’s1-Day Profit Blast, ASCFG’s Conference, Petal It Forward, and a local wholesaler’s Fall & Winter Classic design and trade show. Whew!

September is also International Balloon Month and Kacie Carswell writes about current trends in the industry; Nick Fronduto explains how local floral hardgoods wholesalers assist supermarket florists; Kasey Cronquist reports on Certified American Grown’s fourth anniversary; and we announce the retirement of Ardith Beveridge after 58 years of service in the floral industry. So was John Denver right about the next two months? Are your bags packed and are you ready to go? If so, I hope I have the pleasure of meeting you at one of the many upcoming events.
