SAF’s 1-Day Profit Blast heads to Portland

Frank Adams Wholesale Florist is sponsoring the Society of American Florists’ 1-Day Profit Blast on Oct. 7 at the Doubletree by Hilton in Portland, OR.

The event will cover design strategies, profitability, smart selling and how to strategically use social media during an eight-hour program.

“M3: Money Making Mechanics,” presented by Derek C. Woodruff, AIFD, CF, PFCI, of Floral Underground in Traverse City, MI, will share ways to do more with less product to improve profitability on the design bench.

1-DAY-PROFIT-BLAST Derrick Myers, CPA, CFP, PFCI, president at Crockett, Myers & Associates, Inc. in Glen Burnie, MD, will teach how to track, measure and adjust costs in the six main cost centers of your floral business during “Treasure Hunt: Finding Your Hidden Profits.”

Attendees will receive no-nonsense advice on motivating and managing staff, upselling and managing customer complaints during “Smart Selling,” presented by Floral Management columnist Tim Huckabee, president and founder at FloralStrategies, LLC in New York.

And Crystal Vilkaitis, owner at Social Edge in Carlsbad, CA, will reveal social media’s latest features and how to use them to reach more customers and increase sales during her presentation, “What’s Up and Coming with Social Media.”

The 1-Day Profit Blast will also feature a Supplier Showcase, where attendees can mingle with growers, manufacturers and service providers.

“I greatly appreciated all the product the Supplier Showcase vendors brought for the viewing and the literature they provided,” said Kathy Cunningham of Moody Blooms in Portage, IN, after attending the Green Bay, WI, Profit Blast event on July 15.

“I spent an hour immediately following the conference reviewing flower varieties for several upcoming weddings,” Cunningham added. “Having photos of the cutting-edge flowers and their names at my fingertips was immensely helpful!”

Early Bird registration for Portland’s 1-Day Profit Blast ends Sept. 27.
