The Rosa Flora sold-out event included a cocktail reception in the tropical atrium, a guided walking tour of the facilities, and a seasonal four-course artisan meal prepared by a local chef. Dinner guests were seated at a 100-foot harvest table and surrounded by thousands of blooming snapdragons, right in the middle of one of the company’s many greenhouses.

Otto and Corine Bulk grew hybrid tea roses and established Rosa Flora in 1978. The family-owned business has been passed down from one generation to the next and it now grows gerberas, snapdragons, lisianthus, and stephanotis and is the largest greenhouse cut flower operation in Canada today.

“We had the best time last night having dinner in the snapdragon greenhouse! I think our guests will agree,” Rosa Flora posted on their Facebook page. “Thank you to Dejan and his team from Flowers Canada Ontario and the many sponsors and vendors who worked to put on this memorable event.”

The next Petals & Plates Dinner is slated to take place Oct. 28 at CosMic Plants Inc. in Grimsby, Ontario. CosMic Plants Inc. is an orchid greenhouse operation established in 2004 and owned by Neil and Mike van Steekelenburg. The name CosMic originates from the brothers’ names Cornelis (Neil) and Michael (Mike) and the company produces Phalaenopsis orchids year round. For more information, visit www.petalsandplates.ca.
