Floriology Institute on the Road offers education events

BloomNet, an international wire service and business solutions provider, announced in a news release that its Floriology Institute would collaborate with Kennicott Bros. Co. Wholesale Florist and the Illinois State Florists’ Association to co-sponsor its first Floriology Institute On the Road event May 22-24 at Kennicott Alsip in Alsip, IL.

The three-day course will be headlined by Jackie Lacey, Floriology Institute’s lead design instructor, who will revisit the principles and elements of floral design and focus on the skills and knowledge that evaluators look for when judging competitions and awarding certifications.

“With this year’s ‘On the Road’ courses, we are bringing educational opportunities to local florists, expanding professional opportunities by making the art of perfecting our craft more accessible to florists across the nation,” said Lacey in the release. “Our instructors have worked diligently to revamp the curriculum with the newest trends, while staying true to the craft.”

Lacey will also join Renato Cruz Sogueco, business instructor for the Floriology Institute, as featured speakers for the Kennicott Bros. Co.’s Trends Design Program May 25.

“Education is a powerful engine that fosters growth of the floral industry,” Sogueco said in the release. “We are currently working with a number of state associations and major wholesalers to host educational events at their facilities. The response has been very positive and we look forward to welcoming everyone to the 2017 ‘Floriology On the Road’ courses.”
