Fully focusing on fabulous floral fairs

I have just returned from New Orleans after attending the 2014 International Floriculture Expo and my head is still spinning. It was a very impressive, well-organized and energetic trade show and many great industry connections were made. In this edition we tell you about some of what took place when floral buyers and suppliers came together to do business, learn, network and celebrate.

One survey taken of trade show attendees has indicated that about two-thirds of people attend mainly to learn about new products on the market, so we show you a few of the new products we discovered at the IFE. We also profile some of the winners of the various competitions and awards at IFE.

There are many other floral shows, meetings and conventions coming up in the near future, so we keep you informed about them as well.

In addition to all the shows, Ramiro Peñaherrera writes about the Memorial Day Flowers Foundation and we introduce you to the Mayo Clinic Flower of Hope.

Looking ahead to the August edition of Floral Marketing in The Produce News, we plan to put the spotlight on roses. People have called them the backbone of the floral industry, so we will examine their impact on the mass market. Your input is important to us, so let us know if there is any particular aspect of the rose industry that you would like to see covered in this feature. You can email us at lutes@the-producenews.com.

See you next month.
