Laura D. Shinall now heads Syndicate Sales, family business begun in 1946

Laura Demaree Shinall has been named president of Syndicate Sales Inc., the family floral hardgoods supplier in Kokomo, IN, started by her grandparents in 1946. She succeeds her father, Del Demaree, who continues as chairman.

A graduate of DePauw University in Greencastle, IN, Laura Shinall has been in the floral industry for three decades with experience in retail and wholesale florist operations. She began her career as a wholesale floral supply manager at Kennicott Bros. Co. in its Milwaukee, WI, office.

After raising four children, she served as athletic director at Frederica Academy, a private, coeducational prep school with about 400 students on St. Simons Island, Georgia, from 2003-05 and in 2010 joined Syndicate Sales as a sales representative. She was promoted to director of marketing and in May 2012 became vice president. Her husband, Larry, is a field representative for Syndicate Sales. The Shinalls live in Charleston, SC.

Shinall has served on the board of Syndicate Sales for 15 years and was named in 2011 to the American Floral Endowment Board of Trustees where she serves on the education and public relations committees. In addition, Shinall serves on the Consumer Marketing Committee of the Society of American Florists.

Syndicate Sales is a manufacturer, importer and distributor of floral hardgoods. Hurryin’ Hoosier, the company’s own delivery fleet of some 100 tractor trailers, plies every major city across the country on a weekly basis. With approximately one million square feet of manufacturing and warehouse facilities in Kokomo, Syndicate Sales employs more than 250 team members handling some 1,500 items for customers in all 50 states, Canada, South America, Europe and Japan.
