NYAA continues support of New York City Marathon

This year marks the 21st year the New York Apple Association has been the official apple of the TCS New York City Marathon. As part of its sponsorship, New York apples were given to the more than 50,000 runners.

Cailin-Kowalewski-2 Cailin Kowalewski“New York apple growers are especially proud of this sponsorship, and we are already thinking about the 2019 race,” said Cynthia Haskins, NYAA president. “NYAA’s Assistant Account Manager Cailin Kowalewski is going to run the marathon in 2019 and NYAA is going to support her efforts.”

For the 2018 race, the NYAA had its new logo displayed in ads and in a new television commercial that aired during the event.

As a race sponsor, NYAA also provides apples to runners in races throughout New York City in the week leading up to the main event. In all, NYAA provides more than 80,000 New York apples and, each year, NYAA sponsor a group of Rochester fire fighters and friends to run the race in honor of the first responders who came running to serve on September 11.

As part of its rebranding to Apples From New York earlier this season, NYAA renewed its focus on social media and recently concluded a successful consumer recipe sweepstakes campaign on Facebook.

“We are also churning out video content featuring new and delicious recipes made with New York varieties,” Haskins said. “The association also offers retailers custom promotional collateral to support their merchandising needs. NYAA will be working closely with the New York Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in 2019.”

NYAA is also hosting a Holiday Display Extravaganza for retailers which runs through Dec. 31.
