Christopher Ranch looking forward to new crop of garlic

Gilroy, CA-based Christopher Ranch is a leading grower, marketer and distributor of high-quality garlic. Marketing Director Patsy Ross said that Hunts Point and beyond in the Northeast is an important region for the company.

“Our East Coast sales division and warehouse in Edison, NJ, is ideally located to service the entire Eastern seaboard,” said Ross. “We ship daily to the Hunts Point market in particular.”

The company offers a wide variety of garlic options, including bulk, peeled, and roasted, as well as a wide range of jarred items in numerous sizes. It also has an extensive line of other specialty items including ginger, shallots, elephant garlic, specialty onions and more.

Christopher Ranch has been growing high-quality garlic for over 60 years. Today the family-owned-and-operated company lays claim to being one of the largest growers, packers and shippers of California garlic for the fresh market. Its popular brand is distributed nationwide and to offshore countries.

In the mid-1990s, the company began producing organic garlic, and its line of organic specialty items has grown steadily since.

“Today we have over two dozen unique products and pack sizes in our organic program,” Ross explained. “We believe that a commitment to produce organically is also a commitment to sustainability and to being a good steward of the land. Our primary organic items are garlic, shallots, pearl onions, Cipolline onions, boiler onions, elephant garlic and ginger, and we offer a variety of packs for the retail, foodservice and industrial markets.”

Christopher Ranch also takes food safety seriously, and considers it of paramount importance.

“Our production facilities are audited by a third party,” Ross pointed out. “They investigate and evaluate all levels of the items we pack at our home ranch in Gilroy, from harvest through shipping. We continue to invest in our plant facilities to insure superior food safety from the field to the fork.”
