W.P. Produce Corp., headquartered in Miami, has been providing its customers with quality tropical produce since it opened its doors for business in 1984. Today Founder and Chief Executive Officer Willy Pardo and his daughter, Vice President Desirée Morales, are focused on produce safety, product line diversity and innovative packaging.
As an importer and distributor, Ms. Morales said the company’s main items include green-skin avocados, plantains, malanga, yucca, chayote, limes and mangos. “We have strong partnerships with Florida growers that pack for us boniato, Florida avocados, guava and mamey,” she told The Produce News March 29.
The company is finishing its season of green-skin avocados from the Dominican Republic. “This item has had about the same volume when compared to last year. But the quality has been better. The fruit has been very clean,” she said.
The Haitian mango season has just beginning and will continue through the end of July. “Quality has been coming in excellent, and we are expecting a very strong season,” she added. The global connections W.P. Produce maintains enables the company to provide its customers with a seamless transition from one season of tropicals to the next.
The company’s premium tropical produce brand is “Desbry.” The brand name is a combination of the names of Mr. Pardo’s children, Desirée and Bryan.
