“DNE World Fruit Sales will promote Florida red and white grapefruit, and Valencia oranges at the 2013 Southern Exposure expo,” said Kathy Hearl, marketing promotions manager for the Ft. Pierce, FL-based company. “We will have some of these of varieties on hand at the expo.”

During the expo, DNE World Fruit will also be highlighting some of its upcoming varieties from South Africa, Chile, Australia, Peru and Mexico.

“The summer citrus season will kick off in mid-May and run through October,” Ms. Hearl added.

The company will have strong staff representation at Southern Exposure this year. On hand at the expo will be: Greg Nelson, president; Mark Hanks, vice president of sales and marketing; Barbara Anderson, marketing promotions manager; Tom Cowan, South African sales manager and Bob States, sales representative. DNE’s booth number is 518.

“DNE World Fruit has been a member of the Southeast Produce Council for nine years, and we have exhibited consistently for the past nine years,” said Ms. Hearl.

“As members and sponsors of the council, and being active on the board and serving on committees, it gives us the opportunity to associate with many decision makers from the numerous retail and foodservice members,” she continued. “And it provides us with an opportunity to meet expo attendees in a relaxed and personal atmosphere. Also, the workshops, tours and other educational events have been beneficial to us over the years.”

Ms. Hearl said that Mr. States is on the Southeast Produce Council’s board of directors and he serves on the attendance committee, membership and marketing committee and on the fall conference committee.

“Barbara Anderson serves on the Southeast Top Agricultural Recruits Scholarship, commonly called the STARS committee,” Ms. Hearl added. “The goal of STARS is to recruit top students and introduce them to the many job opportunities that the produce industry has to offer.”

DNE World Fruit staff members who attend the Southern Exposure expo have also, over the years, taken full advantage of all of the great extracurricular activities that are offered during the event.

“We have participated in the golf tournament, the gala event, workshops, tours, keynote luncheons and brunches, Produce for Kids and the VIP reception,” said Ms. Hearl. “And we sponsor events at both the Southern Exposure expo and at the Fall Conference each year. Over the years we have sponsored numerous events, but not always the same ones every year.”

DNE World Fruit Sales was founded by Joseph B. Egan in 1914. The company grew and evolved over the years to become one of the most highly recognized citrus organizations headquartered in the United States.

Today the company grows, packs and markets the highest quality citrus from around the world.
