Jake Jacobsen, vice president of sales for Eagle Eye Produce Inc. in Nogales, AZ, said the company has staked its reputation on providing superior fresh produce grown and handled under the highest food-safety standards. "We would just like to really point out that we have generations of growing experience behind us, and that we love to farm and ship fresh, premium produce," he told The Produce News on Nov. 28.
The company not only ships a variety of commodities from its Nogales facility, but makesthe point that it grows a good portion of that fresh produce. Commodities that the company grows and markets include green bell peppers, red bell peppers, eggplant, cucumbers, tomatoes, varieties of summer and winter squash, green beans, honeydew and watermelons. "Coming soon will be a variety of chili peppers," Mr. Jacobsen went on to say.
At the current time, Mr. Jacobsen said the company is moving strong volumes of bell peppers, tomatoes, eggplant, green beans and squash. "We have various different destinations [for our Nogales items] but ship coast-to-coast," he added.
Nogales produce is marketed under the "Eagle Eye Produce," "HarvesTime," "Alfa Bita," "Spiros" and "Fresco" labels.
Recently, the company expanded the size of its state-of-the-art facility in Nogales. "We like to always point out the food-safety standards that we maintain to always keep our produce at a higher-than-average safety standard by continuing to be third-party-verified and traceability-compliant," Mr. Jacobsen stated. "We have also done a massive amount of expanding with the growing relationships that we have so that we have a greater amount of control over a large portion of our Nogales vegetable items from the time they are planted to the time they leave our facilities."
