“The Canadian Produce Marketing Association Convention & Trade Show is smaller than the Produce Marketing Association Fresh Summit, and that means we get to spend more time with our customers at the CPMA event,” said Ken Green, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Westmoreland Sales, headquartered in Leamington, ON. “The majority of the customers that we see at this show are Canadian.”

The 2013 CPMA expo will be held in Toronto April 17-19.

Westmoreland Sales is a privately owned year-round greenhouse grower and shipper with a strong and diversified customer base. It regularly adds greenhouse space to its operation, and Mr. Green said that the company is always looking to expand its customer base.

Westmoreland Sales will be exhibiting at the upcoming CPMA expo at Booth 547. Besides Mr. Green, Dino DiLaudo, Max Mastronardi, Tony Cappelli, Lisa Sirizzotti, Matt Wright and Jimmy Coppola — all Westmoreland sales staff members — will be at the expo to represent the company.

“Jimmy Coppola only recently joined our staff,” said Mr. Green. “We look forward to a long and successful relationship with Jimmy.”

Westmoreland Sales grows hydroponic greenhouse beefsteak tomatoes; tomatoes-on-the-vine in red, yellow and orange; seedless cucumbers; mini cucumbers; red, yellow and orange Bell peppers; mini Bell peppers; mini sweet peppers; and long red sweet peppers. Its vast tomato line includes heirloom tomatoes, Roma tomatoes-on-the-vine, cocktail tomatoes and Roma grape tomatoes.

The company ships seasonally from its greenhouses in Ontario and in central Mexico.

“Canadian production runs from March through November,” noted Mr. Green, “and Mexican production runs from August through May.”

Westmoreland Sales’ customers are primarily retail chain stores and foodservice operators. The company distributes the majority of its products in Central and Eastern Canada, the U.S. Midwest and the entire Eastern United States.

“We will be showing our extensive line of tomatoes, cucumbers, mini cucumbers, and peppers at the CPMA expo,” said Mr. Green. “At Westmoreland Sales, we remain very bullish on the long-term prospects of greenhouse growing.”
