Whole Foods Market’s first store in Brooklyn, NY, will open Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 214 3rd Street. At more than 56,000 square feet, the new store will offer a full range of high-quality natural and organic foods. It will also feature a 20,000-square-foot rooftop greenhouse built in partnership with New York’s Gotham Greens.
The Third & 3rd store will be home to a host of local products from many of Brooklyn’s noted artisanalproducers, with one-of-a-kind exclusive items in every department, as well as The Roof, a second-floor indoor/outdoor tap room and restaurant, and an in-store, take-out venue from noted ramen chef Yuji Hariguchi.
Whole Foods Market’s partnership with YUJI Ramen began last year when the retailer teamed up with Brooklyn Flea to launch Smorgasburg Bowery, a monthly in-store pop-up of rotating local Smorgasburg vendors. The Bowery store is continuing to offer its popular Smorgasburg Snack Bar venue, offering a wide selection of items, highlighting vendors from the famed weekly food markets in Brooklyn and Manhattan.
Founded in 1980 with a staff of 19, Whole Foods Market has grown to more than 360 stores with more than 78,000 employees.
