Rocket Farms in Salinas, CA, donated potted orchids on Mother’s Day to mothers living in nursing homes and assisted living facilities through the I Remember Mama program of the Monterey County Alliance on Aging. About 50 mothers in facilities in the county received orchid plants, a company official said.

“Mother’s Day can be especially lonely for some women in residential care facilities and Rocket Farms is pleased that its orchids will provide a little brightness for mothers who may not otherwise be acknowledged on this special day,” a company spokesman said in a news release. “Many seniors do not have family in the region but with the help of local generosity may receive a personally delivered orchid that will bloom and can be enjoyed long after Mother’s Day.”

Rocket Farms specializes in novelty orchids, poinsettias, organic and conventional herbs and vegetable plants, and a variety of potted flowering ornamentals. Its products are available at Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, Costco and a number of other retail locations.
