A native of Chicago, John Niblock was editor of his student newspaper at Monmouth (IL) College, worked as a police reporter with the City News Bureau of Chicago and joined Star Publications in Chicago Heights, IL, as a reporter and on the rewrite desk. John became public relations director for his alma mater, university editor for Michigan Tech, and then a writer-editor for the Southern Regional Education Board in Atlanta and the Learning Institute of North Carolina in Durham, NC.
After two terms as head of the Governor's Advocacy Council on Children & Youth in Raleigh, NC, John served as chief executive officer of two statewide independent non-profits in the Carolinas. He began writing in the Floral Marketing sections of The Produce News around 2005.
John won the Steinbeck Essay Contest in Salinas, CA, in 2000, published a novel, Danny and Da Mob, in 2006, and authored an article, "English Majors Rock!" in the January 2010 Monmouth College alumni magazine. John lives in Tampa with his wife, Pamela Mayer, an organization development manager and corporate executive trainer. They have three grown children living on the East Coast.
